Flat-cut letters, and where they belong
Flat-cut letters are cut from a single sheet and fixed straight to the surface. They have no return and no depth to light through, which makes them cleaner and quieter than built-up letters — and considerably more suited to interiors.
They are the usual answer for a reception wall behind a desk, an office signature above a door, a boardroom, a salon interior, and any frontage where the brand is better served by restraint than by illumination.
Often paired with built-up 3D letters.

Any colour, gloss or matt, metal laminates or solid aluminium and stainless steel, fixed flush or on stand-off locators for a floating effect. Precision-cut on our own machinery in Ipswich.
The choice between a metal laminate and solid metal is usually one of budget against proximity. A laminate reads as metal from across a room and costs considerably less. Solid stainless or aluminium holds up to being seen and touched from a foot away, which is what a reception wall involves.
Stand-off locators lift the letters a short distance off the wall so they cast a shadow. It costs a little more in fixings and in fitting accuracy, and it is what makes flat letters look deliberate rather than stuck on.
What to decide before you ask for a quote
Decide the material and finish first, because it sets the tone of everything else. Then flush-fixed or stood off the wall. Then the size, which for interiors is usually driven by the viewing distance across the room rather than by the width of the wall.
The surface matters as much as the letters. Plasterboard, brick, glass and timber take fixings differently, and a wall that will later be repainted is worth mentioning now. Send the artwork you have — we prepare a drawing for approval before anything is cut.
